Who: The Director of the Arizona Department of Insurance and his Assistant Director of the Consumer Affairs Division, Mary Butterfield.
What: Will meet with claims personnel and inspect the claim operations of several of the insurers with the largest number of policyholders from the area.
When: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2002. Where: Show Low, Arizona
Why: To evaluate the service being provided to insurance claimants in the areas affected by wildfire, to research the magnitude of covered losses, to identify any issues or barriers the insurance industry might be experiencing in the processing of claims, to assess the impact on the insurance marketplace in the affected areas, and to identify any needs the insurance system may have to deal effectively with the emergency. In addition, we will deliver consumer literature to Red Cross Help Center to help answer residents' insurance related questions and direct them to the Department of Insurance for information and assistance.
