ADJUSTING CLAIMS DURING A CATASTROPHE

Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) § 20-321.01(E) allows an insurance company to send to Arizona a person who is licensed or permitted to act as an adjuster in the adjuster’s home state to investigate or adjust a particular loss under an insurance policy or a series of losses resulting from a catastrophe common to all those losses.  The following answers a few frequently asked questions regarding this law.

Warning - Phishing Scam

We are aware of a phishing scam targeting insurance professionals claiming that the National Association of Insurance Commissioners received a complaint that the professional submitted a falsified claim. This fraudulent email displays the NAIC and CIPR logos, can originate from what appears to be an naic.org or gmail.com email account, and instructs the recipient to click on a link to download the complaint notification.

Certain antivirus products will detect this as a malicious email.  If you receive a similar email and have any concerns, contact the NAIC Service Desk at (816) 783-8500 or [email protected].

4/22/2019: Extension of Major Medical Transitional Policies through Calendar Year 2020

Phoenix - The Arizona Department of Insurance (ADOI) announced today that insurers in the individual and small group major medical health insurance markets can choose to renew transitional policies for a policy year beginning on or before October 1, 2020, provided all transitional coverage ends by December 31, 2020.
